Overview

  • A supplier who supplies equipment, device, material, system or facility (herein collectively called as products) for use in water supply and sewerage services in Peninsular Malaysia, the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Labuan is required to list and register its standard products with SPAN.

 

  • Listing and registration with SPAN shall be made before the standard products are supplied for any purpose of installing, working or operating Failure to supply a standard product is an offence under Section 129 of the Water Services Industry Act 2006 [Act 655].

 

  • In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 180 of the Water Services Industry Act 2006 [Act 655], SPAN forms the Water Services Industry (Water Reticulation and Plumbing) Rules 2014.

 

Section 129 of WSIA 2006

  • A person who uses or supplies any non-standard equipment, device, material, system or facility that he knows or has reason to believe is a non-standard equipment, device, material, system or facility to be used for any purpose of installing, working or operating the equipment, device, material, system or facility commits an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to a fine not exceeding fifty thousand ringgit or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding six month or to both

 

  • In any proceedings under this Act or its subsidiary legislation, any document purporting to be a certificate given by an authorized officer certifying that any particular equipment, device or material is a non-standard equipment, device or material shall be admissible as prima facie evidence of the facts stated in it until the contrary is proved.
